Holiday gift ideas for your favorite friend or sister
Holidays are fast approaching, and if you are still looking for holiday gift idea for your bestie, read on....I've got a great idea.
It comes on the back of a review I wrote:
Old Factory Candles sent me three free candles to try for a review of my honest opinion. I can say they are truly great. They burn clean with no soot, and very evenly, as well as True-To-Scent for hours. With a really great scent throw....better than I would have thought. I received HAPPY HOLIDAYS set that comes with Christmas Tree, Gingerbread (my fave), and Candy Cane.
Love them! And they really do burn for over 20 hours. Mine lasted for even longer....more like 30-32 hours. But I didn't burn them all at once, just for about 10 hours at a time (3 times).
They come in awesome scents too...like "50 Shades" with Leather, Jasmine bubbles, and Vanilla Sex. LOL! Just in time for the movie!!
And "Man Cave"; with Leather, Mahogany, Straight Razor....
or "High as a Kite" with Cannabis, Incense, and Bag O' Cookies... ROTFLOL!!!
as well as traditional scents like; "Spa Day", "Vacation", or "Coffee Shop"
And tons of other great scents.
See photo below with examples:
(btw...Every purchase is 100% Guaranteed, Hand poured in the USA.)
Thank you Rachel Cross from Old Factory Candles! Thanks for sending me these gorgeous candles. I truly love them.
They are all natural soy that burn so clean, and have a great scent throw. They also burn even longer than 20 hours. Mine burned for over 30!
Ok, so back to the gift basket idea for a Girls Night In:
Make a pamper hamper full of girly treats for the perfect girls night in! Include a couple bottles of nail polish, some spa essentials like; hand cream, homemade face mask, etc... Give yourself manicures, pedicures, and facials. Don't forget the romantic comedy DVD or magazines, popcorn, Godiva chocolates basket
and other indulgent treats! There are so many ideas for this. Just go with what your friend/sister likes.
There are tons of great ideas strewn across the net for making your own all natural spa night with stuff from your own kitchen too.

Here's some recipes I found on WEBMD;
All-Natural Chocolate Facial Mask
This decadent facial mask, ideal for normal skin, will leave your face smooth, soft, and silky. The cream and honey add moisture, and the oatmeal sloughs dead skills, perfect for smelling romantic and deliciously edible. Enjoy!
1/3 cup cocoa
3 tablespoons heavy cream
2 teaspoons cottage cheese
1/4 cup honey
3 teaspoons oatmeal powder
Mix all ingredients together and smooth onto face. Relax for 10 minutes; then rinse with warm water.

Apple Pie Spa Treatment Skin Polish
Apples are notorious for their nutritional benefits; they're 85% water and high in potassium and vitamins A and C. Perhaps even more beneficial is the malic acid, an exfoliating enzyme in apples that is useful for removing dead skin cells and surface dirt.
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon fresh apple puree or apple sauce
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix all ingredients, stirring well. In the bath or shower, apply scrub to skin in a circular motion, using a washcloth, bath gloves, or a loofah sponge. Pay special attention to rough spots like elbows, heels, and knees. Rinse well, and follow with a rich body lotion.
Note: If using on the face, omit granulated sugar. Brown sugar, because it dissolves gently, is a more appropriate choice for the delicate skin of the face.

Papaya Rejuvenation Home Spa Skin Refresher
Exfoliate your skin gently with natural papaya enzymes, and leave the house with a gentle glow.

Dr. Sabina DeVita ( an international speaker, author, a holistic energy practitioner, registered nutritionist, environmentalist, energy psychologist) wrote; “…Frankincense …known for centuries for its beautifying properties. The restorative, regenerating and rejuvenating actions are especially useful for dry, mature/sensitive skin…smooths lines and wrinkles…soothes and softens raw, chapped skin.. Balances oily skin,,, accelerates the healing of blemishes, inflammations, sores, scars, skin ulcers and wounds…”. Frankincense has the ability to tighten and uplift skin which helps prevents wrinkles.

Are we loving nature to death?
We all love nature... and we just might be killing the very thing we love.

photos by: http:/www.theconstantrambler.com |
It reminds me of that cartoon "I will name him George, and I will pet him, and love him and squeeze him......." remember that one? ...a joke, but seriously, sometimes our love of something can literally obliterate it.
A fabulous comment /quote from an amazing person--Kevin Love, former district employee and land manager
It means recognizing that these lands are something much more important…they are our storehouses of biological diversity, of genetic information, the last places where wild things can be wild. They are our natural endowment for the future. They are all we have and they must last us forever.- Read more of his comments here.
We tend to gravitate to the places that resonate with us the most, and when it comes to tourism, we can't help it, we end up visiting many of the same places over and over again. Now, more than ever we need to be aware of our 'footprints'. They could be annihilating the very things we hold so dear.

(See http://www.floridasprings.org/learn/questions/).
Also a great book to read about the springs:
----->>The Springs of Florida- The deepest and largest known springs in the world are found in Florida. The photographs are the result of hundreds of hours under water. The new edition is completely updated to serve as a guide to Florida's many spring parks and their inhabitants. Vital for canoeists, kayakers, divers, snokelers, and visitors.
We fight over water. (https://www.southernenvironment.org/cases-and-projects/tri-state-water-wars-al-ga-fl).
awesome blog about saving our water--->>>>SWFWMD Matters: Silver Springs Dying?
And the fight goes on over bottled water--->.Bottling Up. Our Natural Resources:
These natural beauties are reeling from our misuse, over-use, and indirect pollution by too much fertilizer, along with so many other things we should be aware of that harm our springs. Read more on how we can help here.
Are we loving our springs to death?
See video----> An outbreak of toxic algae red time has killed more than 200 Florida manatees. This breaks the record of deaths set back in 1996....Are we loving our springs to death?

Which cell phone service is best?
Which cell phone service is the best?
I'm not talking about phones necessarily...but the service itself - as far as reliability and connectivity wherever you are.
That question is a difficult one to answer because of all the different parts to the equation.
For instance, from which type of phone you have to where you live and where you travel, and so many more things to consider, it's almost a crap shoot.
ConsumerSearch.com said, "Staying connected is no longer a matter of choosing the cheapest cell phone plan with the right number of talk and text minutes. Geographic coverage, customer service, data bundling, shared data, network reliability and speed are all things to consider when selecting the best cell phone provider and the right cell phone plan for you."
But, there is one thing I do know, and after years of trying my luck and dealing with many different phone companies, I can tell you this -
All phone companies suck.
But since we do have to have our cellphones, we might as well have the least of all evils.
Consumer Reports at money.cnn.com says, "AT&T scored a surprising coup in the annual Consumer Reports survey of the top cell phone service providers. Verizon(VZ) has by far the largest 4G-LTE network, serving more than 400 markets, compared to just over 100 for AT&T (T) and more than 40 for Sprint (S). But AT&T customers reported the fewest 4G-related problems of any carrier, including service interruptions, slow speeds or lack of service."
Choosing a cell phone carrier is not as simple as it first seems. You have to consider the cost, the geographic coverage, the actual performance of the service and even how helpful the carrier's customer support is in order to make the right choice for you. Shop Amazon - Contract Cell Phones & Service Plans
Consumer Search ratings has a great overall article on this- "AT&T is judged to be the fastest nationwide and in each region of the country. Verizon is named a better choice in rural and suburban areas because of the wider reach of its 4G network." Click here to read more about their findings.
Overall, here's my personal thoughts and the rundown:
AT&T: Even though the customer service isn't the best (but not the worst either), I found that the coverage is tops. I live in FLA, so that may make a difference, but even when we went to Nova Scotia , of all our friends, we were the only ones that had great service up there, everyone else had none, or sparse connectivity. And no matter where we go, it seems we always have a great signal (except when we were recently in Colorado up on top of Mt. Evans...but I can forgive them for that; we were at over 14,000 ft.! LOL...) So if you are most worried about service connect-ability you'll want AT&T. (Plus, they have a great deal right now with the brand new Amazon Fire Phone, 32GB (AT&T).
Verizon:Verizon seems to take the cake in all other fields. They have pretty good customer service, and a great choice of plans, as well as rating the top in almost all the surveys I've seen. They are really popular right now because of the new waterproof and super cool Galaxy S5 phone.
T-Mobile: T-Mobile's prices are as good as they come, its download speeds are faster than anyone else's, and it offers truly unlimited data. But since its network is growing, some cities still don't have access to 4G LTE service. AT&T and Verizon are better with that area.
US Cellular: I've not had any experience with this company so I referred to; Consumer Search which stated that the pros are: Talk and text only plans, Strong regional coverage, Good customer service, Competitive pricing. And Cons are; Limited geographic coverage, and Limited handset (phone) choices.
Sprint: This I can tell you for sure... in my experience Sprint is the worst of the worst. You may have had a different experience, but I can honestly say that I wouldn't have Sprint as my cell phone company for any reason period. They are the worst in connectivity and in customer service. The call quality sucks. Their only saving grace (for some) is their guarantee of unlimited data plan thing. LOL, it's not worth it if there's crappy signal everywhere! See for yourself what Consumer Search said, here.
So that's that. In my humble opinion AT&T and Verizon win this one hands down, unless you live in a urban area...then I would opt for T-Mobile. But if you travel (at all) take the AT&T or Verizon. Shop Amazon - Contract Cell Phones & Service Plans .
Oh, and don't forget the bluetooth speakers
for listening to all your fave music on your phone wherever you are.

DIY distillers and where to buy home distilling equipment
Have you ever wanted to distill your own essential oils instead of spending loads of $$ on buying them? Especially when some are diluted and therapeutically speaking, not worth the price.
Yes, there are reputable companies out there who consistently offer top of the line essential oils, but their prices reflect this and wouldn’t it be great to know exactly where that essential oil you’re using comes from?By home distillation, you can control exactly how the plants/flowers/etc. are grown, tended and what products are used or not used in their raising. (i.e. pesticides, herbicides, etc.)
read my blog post on yellowstaressentials wordpress blog; DIY distillers and where to buy home distilling equipment.

"It's been said in many healing traditions that the perfect medicine is often blooming right outside our front door. Everyday nature offers us its healing bounty, creating balance and cultivating greater harmony in our world. " -Oprah & Depok ChopraThat snippet of their quote reverberated inside me, and echoes of the message still ring true. It even inspired a bit of poetry.

HERE'S AN EASY 20 MINUTE SKIN CARE ROUTINE
(1). Cleanse face with gentle cleanser to suit skin type, using a cotton ball or a washcloth.
(2). Steam face with head over bowl of steaming hot water for 2 minutes.
(3). Apply moisturizing, purifying face mask.
(4). Bath or shower with a few drops of relaxing essential oil
or invigorating oil in the water. You may also put used herbal tea bags, or cucumber or potato slices over your eyes to remove the bagginess around the eyes. Relax totally for 10 minutes.
(5). Pat body dry with thick warm towels. Apply body lotion all over while skin is still moist. Take special care of feet, knees, elbows, and neck.
(6). Remove mask with warm water and spray or splash face with mineral water.
(7). Apply eye-soothing gel (if you are going out) or night eye cream (if you are going to bed) around eyes and on lids.
(8). Apply moisturizer to face if going out, or your favourite night cream/oil if not.
(9). Apply hand cream and a nail cream around cuticles
Basic Skin Care
A daily routine of skin care requires no more than ten minutes and requires only three simple steps each evening and morning:
(1). Cleanse
(2). Tone
(3). Moisturize
Night care
(1). Cleanse: Remove any makeup with cleansing cream or a natural makeup remover. Wash with mild soap or other cleanser, rinse, and pat dry.
(2). Ton: Apply an acid-containing solution to restore the pH balance and protective shield. For dry skin, use a mild freshener-toner. For oily skin, use an astringent preparation.
(3). Moisturize. Splash on cool water or mist with a spray bottle. Blot, but do not dry completely-moisturizer magic relies more on retaining moisture than in providing it-then smooth on a few drops of your moisturizer.
Day care
(1). Cleanse lightly to remove night time accumulations, refresh your face with a few splashes of water, and pat dry.
(2). Tone by applying a freshener or astringent.
(3). Moisturize around your eyes. If your face is excessively dry, mist or splash with water, blot, and then lightly cover with moisturizer.
